Oldham have withdrawn their contract offer to former Sheffield Wednesday defender Miguel Llera.

The 34-year-old Spaniard, released by Wednesday at the end of the season, was offered a deal by the Latics following a recent trial spell at Boundary Park and was given time to think it over. But a brief statement released on Oldham's official website on Friday read: "Oldham Athletic AFC have formally withdrawn their contract offer to Spanish trialist Miguel Llera. "The club would like to wish the defender all the best for the future." Llera spent just over two-and-a-half seasons at Wednesday after joining the club, initially on loan, in November 2011. He made 87 first-team appearances and scored 11 goals. He arrived in England from Spanish side Hercules in 2008 when he joined MK Dons on a free transfer and has also had spells at Charlton, Blackpool and Brentford.
