BOKARO: A team headed by SDO, Bermo, Rahul Kumar Sinha busted crushers running unlawfully in jungles on Thursday, after cracking down illegal coal mining in Red zones. The team, comprising a district mining officer, forest officer and police officials, sealed five illegal crushers and tonnes of stone and stone chips , raiding in Maoist prone Kanjkiro, Goniato under Nawadih and Bokaro thermal police stations respectively.
The crushers were found in Upperghat jungle, a naxal dominated areas since several years. SDO claimed that there are over a dozen illegal crushers in the red belt under Bermo Sub-Division. . Maoists give shelters to illegal crushers and collect levy from them.
SDO said that unfortunately no owner or crusher staff was found during the raid. They might have fled. However, a FIR has been lodged against the crusher owners Bhim Ram, Kishore Kumar, Narayan Mahto, Manjoor Alam and Nirmal Prajapati . "The machines installed in the crushers were sealed and local police officials have been directed to keep a check on these crushers ," said SDO.
