Arrangements for Vavu Bali in Thiruvananthapuram

Parking facilities and CCTVs have been set up. A generator has been installed to ensure uninterrupted power supply. The KSRTC will run special services to Thiruvallom.

The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has made arrangements for the rituals in connection with the Karkidaka Vavu Bali on Saturday.

The board has appointed special officers to ensure facilities for devotees at the temples and ‘bali kadavus’ at Thiruvallam, Varkala, Sanghumughom, Aruvikkara, Thrivikramangalam, Kadhinamkulam, Anandeswaram, Rameswaram, Ottasekharamangalam, Kuttoor, Attipuzha, Keraladityapuram, Neyyattinkara and Thrikulangara in the district.

At the Thiruvallam Sree Parasurama temple, the rituals will begin at 3 a.m. on Saturday. A total of nine bali mandapams have been set up at the temple. Around 3,500 people can offer bali at the same time. Fifty-seven priests have also been appointed. The temple and the river have been cleaned up and clean water has been collected in the reservoirs. A temporary footbridge has also been arranged to avoid rush when devotees return.

Officers to be deployed

A total of 800 policemen have been appointed for smooth observance of the Vavu Bali. Around 200 officers from revenue, corporation, KWA, KSEB, KSRTC, irrigation and fire force will be on duty at the temple. Doctors and paramedical staff will also be available for medical help and an ambulance service will also be available.

Similar arrangements have been made at the Janardhana Swami temple at Varkala.
