A 58-year-old woman was stabbed to death, allegedly by her mentally ill son at Chirakkara near Payyoli on Thursday.
Police identified the victim as Manappad Amina. Her son Noufal Ahmed, 24, was taken into police custody after the incident. He was booked under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the IPC.
The incident took place around 11.30 p.m. on Wednesday. The woman succumbed to injuries on the way to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. As per the preliminary inquiry, the woman was killed with a kitchen knife. She sustained seven injuries in her stomach. Her elder son was also at home when the incident took place.
