Elusive leopard caged near Erode

July 25, 2014 11:01 am | Updated 11:01 am IST - ERODE:

The leopard that attacked and fed on two humans, including a forest guard, in Dhimbam area of Sathyamangalam forest in the last one month, was trapped in a cage kept along Talamalai Road on Thursday.

There was a sense of relief not only among people who were forced to remain indoors for days as the animal was lurking in the region, but also among forest department officials and personnel as they captured it alive. Some months ago, a tiger was shot dead in the Nilgiris after a long drawn out operation.
