Darshan’s transition from chocolate boy to menacing villain
Young actor Darshan may be widely- known as the boy-next-door Karan from the TV series Amritavarshini, but he is now ready for a new chapter in his acting career.
Darshan, who made the transition from small to big screen in recent times with films like Lucky and Paru wife of Devadas, in which he had guest roles, is turning baddie for his next. “Right through my stint on television in shows like Sindoora, Amritavarshini and Chandra Chakori, as well as my upcoming films Bahaddur and Male, I have chocolate hero roles.
When director Ghous Peer then picked me as the villain for Sharp Shooter, which has Diganth in the lead, stunt director Thriller Manju was at first aghast. But I assured him that I would get into the skin of the character just the way he wants. I believe that to be a villain, more than rugged looks, you need to convince audiences that you are bad at heart and I think I have been able to do that,” he says.
For the role, Darshan lost a lot of weight, wore green contact lenses, sported multiple-piercings on his ears and face and shaved off part of his eyebrow.
