Feast for eyes and ears

The cultural festival – ‘Gokulashtami Series’ — that aims to preserve Indian traditions, and promote art and culture will be held from August 2 to 24 at The Unnati Centre, Ganesha Temple Road, NGEF Layout, Sadanandanagar (Near Byappanahalli Metro Station).

 

Some of the best known artistes in the field of Carnatic music like Sudha Raghunathan, Praveen Godkhindi, Mandolin U Shrinivas, TM Krishna, Sanjay Subramaniam, Unnikrishnan etc will be participating in the festival.

‘Gokulashtami’ is that time of the year when Bangalore comes alive with memorable performances from known names in vocal, instrumental and traditional music as part of the celebrations. This ‘Utsav’ is one the biggest events in the cultural map of the country. For more than 25 years, it has been an event which is eagerly awaited by the connoisseurs and art lovers of Bangalore and around. 

There will be more than 50 days of programmes, free of cost to the public. These include ‘Gokulashtami Series’ during August/September, ‘Santh Thyagaraja’ and ‘Santh Purandharadasa Aradhana’ during January/February, monthly programmes to promote budding talent and other special events. 

This has been a major fundraising platform for SGBS Trust and its programmes. ‘Gokulashtami’ is a unique opportunity for our community to come together to celebrate and keep alive our rich cultural heritage”, says Ramesh Swamy, lead trustee.
