BANGALORE: The rise in dengue cases in Dollars Colony, one of Bangalore's high-profile areas which is home to several politicians and bureaucrats, has affected elected representatives to such an extent that the issue was raised in the legislative council on Thursday.
Members cutting across party lines urged
chief minister Siddaramaiah to direct BBMP to prevent the spread of the mosquito-borne fever in the area.
During question hour in the council, BJP members BJ Puttaswamy, Narayanaswamy, Lehar Singh and Congress members Motamma, Jaimala and
Ugrappa blamed the open storm water drain in the colony for the spread of the fever.
Siddaramaiah, who admitted that he too was a victim of mosquitoes during his stay in Dollars Colony in early 2000, said he would direct the BBMP commissioners to prepare an estimate to provide a permanent solution to the menace.
