JALANDHAR: Punjab Congress spokesperson Sukhpal Singh Khaira has submitted a written complaint before the Enforcement Directorate with "copies of transcripts" allegedly showing hawala transaction of Rs 70 lakh from an operator to revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia.
Demanding time-bound investigation under Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002 or any other Act including FEMA, Khaira also submitted transcripts, purportedly prepared by financial investigation unit of Punjab police, to ED joint director G R Bali and assistant director Niranjan Singh.
Bali is probing the case involving former jail minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur's son Damanvir Singh, who was named by drug lord Jagdish Bhola in his statement to ED.
"Majithia had received Rs 70 lakh from Rohit Goyal at Chandigarh on April 1, 2011. The cops while intercepting the cellphone number 93564-14931 of courier Pinky on their logger 3, traced delivery of Rs 70 lakh to Majithia and his cellphone number 98140-00003, which is mentioned in the transcript prepared by FIU," said the complaint by Khaira. "Although, the FIU should have arrested Pinky and investigated the payment of Rs 70 lakh to Majithia, the top brass of FIU succumbed to political pressure and made no further investigations," he said.
