Salman confirmed for Shhuddhi

After several delays, it is finally confirmed that Salman Khan will play the lead in Dharma Productions’ next, Shhuddhi. Producer Karan Johar took to his Twitter account and confirmed the news. When contacted, director Karan Malhotra, who has earlier assisted on films starring the actor, stated, “Yes, we are very excited to have Salman on board. For me, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime. That’s all I can say at this stage, because as of now, all my energies are focused on my next directorial venture, Warrior.”
Shhuddhi, the title of the film, now has an extra ‘h’ and it has been confirmed as a Diwali release in 2016. While Malhotra will be busy with Warrior this year, Khan is currently shooting for Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. He will then move on to Kabir Khan’s next, Bajrangi Bhaijaan. As a result, Shhuddhi will now take off only in 2015 and hence, the makers haven’t started much work on the pre-production yet.
With a new lead actor, a few changes have been made to the script over time. Malhotra also dismissed rumours about signing Deepika Padukone or Kareena Kapoor Khan as the leading lady. “We haven’t signed anyone, nor have we approached any actress. It’s too early to approach anyone,” mentioned Malhotra.
