July 24, 2014 11:54 pm | Updated 11:54 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda told the Lok Sabha on Thursday that the accident at an unmanned railway crossing in Medak district of Telangana happened due to the negligence of the driver of the school bus.

The driver did not stop the bus at the stop board just before the level crossing to check for the approaching train, the Minister said.

Mr. Gowda said visibility at this relatively low-density, unmanned level crossing was clear from all sides and basic infrastructure such as road signs, speed breakers, whistle boards and proper approach roads were in place.
