Westley hails beaten Tonbridge

Stevenage boss Graham Westley emphasised the importance of not taking pre-season for granted after the win over Tonbridge Angels.

Boro won the match 3-1 with goals from a trialist, Bira Dembele and Adam Marriot, but Westley was full of praise for his non-league opponents. "I said to them beforehand, you don't get any 'gimmes' at a club like Tonbridge," Westley told the club's official website. "They were going to give heart and soul and we knew it wasn't going to be easy. They worked very, very hard, they went right the way through the 90 minutes. "It was a tough encounter which needed winning." Breaking news, transfer gossip, line ups and goal alerts from your football club - delivered direct to your mobile. Sign up for Sky Sports Alerts
