High Court issues notice to BJP MP on poll plea
ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad high court has issued notice to Bijnor BJP MP Kunwar Bhartendra Singh on an election petition filed by one Rajendra Kumar.
Justice Ran Vijay Singh fixed September 8 for appearance of Singh and also for filing of written statement by him on the date fixed.
In the election petition, the petitioner requested the court to set aside Singh's election as MP from Bijnor.

Kumar alleged in his plea that his nomination as BJP candidate was wrongly rejected by the returning officer on the ground that BJP had subsequently given ticket to Singh.
According to the petition, Kumar was earlier granted BJP election symbol. Later, Singh filed his nomination paper claiming himself to be a BJP candidate and the symbol was given to him. The petitioner contended that in a situation like this when two persons are granted symbol of one party, the claim of the candidate who had filed his nomination paper first should be accepted.
Therefore, he has taken the plea that as per rule, the RO should have accepted him as BJP candidate, as he had filed his nomination paper even before the present MP did.
