Ups, downs and new realities

1 minute read time.
Just a wee one on this week and how j's been doing post his first chemo. It's been quite a roller coaster week. He had one really bad day where he hardly got out of bed and 3 others where he was up but nauseous and tired and - well - like someone who had been poisoned I suppose (!) but now he seems to be coming out the other side. We've had a couple of really good days out in the garden with the kids in the paddling pool, got him a new lounger, just felt really happy together and so appreciative of the good times. Wish we could fast forward 6 months to the end of the treatment. Mind you having said that j has joined a Hodgkin's group on Facebook and it's lovely, really active supportive group but you can see how this could go on and on. It's not just chemo there is talk of stem cell transplants and relapses and protein treatment and all kind of things j and I are so innocent of. In a way I think it's sometimes better not to know. I'm sticking to kale and watercress, Manuka honey and pomegranites for now. Every meal has a super food in it! Maybe it'll do some good.... So that's us. Next week j's off to see the consultant to discuss the abvd v beacopp business, and then he'll have his next and probably last abvd a couple of days after that. Still v worried about the harshness of the beacopp but I think he'll probably go along with it. It would be difficult to go against what the medics think, they're the experts after all...

    Hi,

I did the super food for M after his first chemo and the consultant on Tuesday couldn't believe how well his bloods had come back up so I think there's something in it.  Everything we can do to help makes us feel that little bit better that we're not completely helpless in all of this.  M has Non hodgkins Lymphoma so I wish you much luck and good days in your journey,

    Hugs

    Helen

    Hi Helen,

I'm glad you have found your way over here. I am liking your no nonsense style! I have a feeling it will help me enormously having someone in a similar boat at a similar time to us. Wishing you and M all the best too x

Hi, hope the second round went ok today. Mark is home now, had his chemo and went back to work for a bit. It is nice in a bizarre way to have found someone going through the same rubbish at the same time. You wouldn't believe the consultant appointment this week - two hours for three minutes! And then he wrote the wrong clinic date down so had to change that. It makes you wonder sometimes how he gets dressed on his own some mornings! Take care Helen
