Jharkhand police have sounded high alert in all railway tracks here after Maoists blasted a portion of a such a track in Gaya district of Bihar.

RANCHI: Jharkhand police have sounded high alert in all railway tracks here after Maoists blasted a portion of a such a track in Gaya district of Bihar. Some trains which come through Gaya were delayed in Jharkhand, though the incident did not have affect train services here as such.
DGP Rajiv Kumar said all police stations covering railway tracks in the state have been asked to be cautious to avert any such incident in Jharkhand.

All government railway police stations have been asked to beef up security and increase their intelligence gathering exercise. ADG railway A K Sinha said the security of the tracks is the job of the GRP as well as the local administration.
"We have asked our forces to step up patrolling on the tracks as a preventive measure," said Sinha.
A large chunk of railway tracks pass through the forest areas occupied by Maoists. Several important trains including Rajdhani and Shatabdi pass through these tracks. In Latehar and other districts in past, Maoists have blown up railway tracks.
