RANCHI: Keeping up with the chief minister's demand for expediting work ahead of the assembly elections, chief secretary, Sajal Chakrabarty rebuked a few deputy commissioners during a meeting on Wednesday, to review progress of various central and state sponsored schemes. He directed all the districts to open control rooms in their district headquarters within two days and depute officers' according to shifts so that it functions round the clock.
"These control rooms should function as information centre for the citizens and have one landline and one mobile number to keep in the touch with the headquarters," Chakrabarty said.
He expressed displeasure over the state of affairs prevailing in various government offices including hospitals, police stations, schools and primary health centres. "During the last three months I have been travelling across various government offices and was surprised to notice the level of casual approach," he said, directing the DCs to move out of their offices and visit offices in the fields. Chakrabarty said that government funds remain under-utilized because of lack of monitoring and the control rooms must work as monitoring centres.
While Principal secretary of planning and development, DK Tiwari asked the DCs to ensure Aadhaar seeding of bank accounts of pensioners and of other schemes, revenue secretary JB Tubid stressed on digitisation of maps, particularly the villages.
