Gunjan Utreja: Unlike a host, an actor is dependent on writers
Gunjan Utreja, who played Abhay Kapoor in Madhubala: Ek Ishq Ek Junoon, has taken time off to indulge in his first love — hosting live shows.
“I have been doing it for six years. Even after Madhubala..., I hosted live shows across the US, Singapore and Istanbul,” he says. What does he like more — acting or hosting? “I want to explore my talent on various platforms. But yes, I enjoy being a TV host more.
As a host, you can add value to the show. On the other hand, an actor is always dependent on scriptwriters,” he replies.

And much to his pleasure, he has been offered a travel show on TV, which will allow him to explore various states and cities in the country. “I love travelling. Also, there hasn’t been a travel show on Hindi GECs for long. It’s not just about exploring a tourist destination, it also celebrates the true spirit of India. We will cover major festivals celebrated across the country,” he says.
Would he like to take up another fiction show? “Of course. I need to devote only four to six days a month for the travel show, which means I can easily take up another fiction show,” he replies.
