Jerry Stackhouse wants to coach, reaches out to Brooklyn Nets

Former NBA shooting guard Jerry Stackhouse wants to become a coach and has reached out to the Brooklyn Nets about an assistant job, he told the New York Daily News.

Stackhouse, 39, last played in 2013 for the Nets. He said he emailed Nets coach Lionel Hollins about joining his staff, but isn't expecting an offer.

“Probably not with Brooklyn,” Stackhouse said of his future job prospects. “I like Lionel Hollins, and I like Jason Kidd, too. That came about really quickly. But sometimes you need a change of scenery.”

Hollins was hired as Brooklyn's head coach following Jason Kidd's departure to become the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Stackhouse played in the NBA for 18 seasons and averaged 16.9 points per game for his career.
