Boart Longyear will be the major sponsor of the Australian Drilling Industry Association’s (ADIA) biennial DRILL 2014 conference. Kent Hoots, Boart Longyear’s product division senior vice president, will be a featured speaker with his presentation, “Utilizing Innovation to Drive Productivity On-Site.”

While the drilling industry has worked to improve efficiency, it’s been cautious about adjusting to new technologies, Hoots says. “As the major sponsor of ADIA’s DRILL 2014, our goal is to bring innovation to the forefront and challenge others to do so as well.”

DRILL 2014 will take place Aug. 19 and 20 at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre in Gold Coast, Queensland. It is Australia’s only national drilling conference.

The event will feature key decision makers from multiple drilling sectors including groundwater, minerals exploration, geotechnical/environmental, horizontal directional drilling and coal seam gas.

As the major sponsor Boart Longyear will greet trade show visitors on the exhibition floor. The company will be showcasing new performance tooling and drilling equipment, including but not limited to: LM110 underground diamond coring rig, Drill Control Interface, TruCore core orientation tool, BLH DTH Hammers and Quick Descent Roller Latch.

Boart Longyear, based in Salt Lake City, offers drilling services, equipment and performance tooling for the mining industry.
