NASHIK: The district administration has prepared a software-based tool to keep tabs on the progress of Kumbh-related projects implemented by 23 government agencies.
While reviewing the progress of the projects as part of the Rs 2,378.78 crore-plan during the weekly meeting on Tuesday, district deputy collector Mahesh Patil said the tool, fed with all issues related to completion of the infrastructure development projects, has been prepared and it would keep a tab on the progress of all the work.
The tool will also trigger an alert if any of the agencies runs behind schedule.
"As many as 23 agencies are working for developing infrastructure. While the Railways and the public works department are working on road connectivity, the irrigation department is constructing the ghats. The civic body has been entrusted with the tasks of constructing ring roads raising and improving the health infrastructure, among others. To keep a tab on the development of all these agencies, we have devised the tool that will at a glance provide us with the status update on each project," Patil said. Details of all the projects have been fed in the software with the time frame required to complete the respective work. The work is being monitored on the basis of programme (project) evaluation and review technique and critical path method.
"The deadline for all the projects has been identified and finalised according to the decisions of the respective departments. There cannot be any further change. All that the respective officials can do is to enter the dates of the projects initiated and finalized. But it does not have an alteration and correction mode. The dates or figures, once installed, will be in the software permanently," Patil said.
The officer said the projects that will miss the deadline would be shown in red, the ones being finished on time in yellow and those before schedule in green. "The system is made in a way that the moment an office misses a deadline, an email is generated and sent to the respective district-level and division-level officers, including the divisional commissioner. The mail will make it clear that a particular department is lagging in a particular schedule," Patil said. He added that the same values could be presented in the bar chart to make it easier for the officials to refer to.
The administration is planning to include the personnel deployment in the fold as the projects enter the implementation mode of Kumbh mela. "Right now, we are going through the preparatory phase - where infrastructure is being prepared. Then we will move into the implementation mode. It is then that we are planning to introduce the factors that will check on staff deployment in respective fields," he said.
