MegaPath's New Managed WiFi Offering Supports LAN Connectivity for Distributed Organizations

By Laura Stotler

MegaPath Corporation has rolled out a new Managed WiFi offering geared toward providing secure wireless LAN connectivity to distributed organizations. The service provider is handling all management and security of the network, easing the burden for businesses interesting in providing WiFi to their employees and customers.

The Managed WiFi offering encompasses the design, configuration, installation and implementation of the entire wireless network. MegaPath is also providing monitoring and management in addition to 24/7/365 help desk support. The solution includes built-in security that automatically enforces access policies based on type of access or device, while protecting networks from attack. It has the added bonus of providing business intelligence gleaned through network usage statistics like store traffic patterns and loyalty data.

The move into the wireless realm marks a natural progression for MSP MegaPath, which has traditionally focused on the VoIP and unified communications (UC) spaces. The MSP also recently announced a partnership with CounterPath Corporation to offer the company’s Bria desktop, tablet and mobile UC solutions through MegaPath’s extensive sales and partnership channels. The Bria solutions offer a variety of functionality, including screen sharing collaboration, text messaging video conferencing and both desktop and mobile UC clients.

MegaPath also offers cloud hosting as well as Hosted Exchange and Hosted SharePoint offerings in addition to data center and backup solutions. The new Managed WiFi offering is cloud managed to provide easy deployment and scalability. This also makes it easy for MegaPath’s Network Operations Center to monitor, configure and troubleshoot customer networks.

"Companies need to be prepared to provide secure Internet connectivity and LAN capabilities to their branch locations, and MegaPath's Managed WiFi solution is a natural extension of our managed services and networking portfolio that enables our customers to do that without increasing the management burden on their IT teams," said David Williams, president, Managed Services, MegaPath.
