Hyderabad: A father from Medak is running from pillar to post seeking justice for his eight-year-old son Ganesh, who had died after being subjected to corporal punishment at his school.
Despite filing several petitions with the State Human Rights Commission, National Human Rights Commission, Lokayukta and the collector, there has been no action or any kind of compensation.
Ganesh’s parents allege that their son was hit by his teachers at the Krishnaveni School because he would stammer a lot and was also a little slow in understanding and his lessons. They said that the blow was so severe that Ganesh died on the spot and the school authorities had taken him to a government hospital to manipulate the case.
His father, Krishna, a taxi driver from Sadashivapet, said, “Ganesh passed away on November 11, 2013. He was a regular student who liked studying and never missed classes, but he was a little slow and used to stammer. He went to school that day and I got a call from the school at 11 am asking me to pay his fee. I apologised and asked for one day more. I got a call again at noon and they told me that my son had fallen down, but did not give any details. We rushed to the Government Hospital, Sadashivapet. He was dead by the time we got there. There were deep bruises on his back, his left cheek was swollen and lips were bleeding. A day later I found out that there were no records of his admission into the hospital, and so far, I have not even received the post-mortem report.”
Mr Krishna immediately filed an FIR against the school authorities.
“The incident took place in the school and they were responsible for it. I also approached the Childline, DEO’s office, collectors, State Human Rights Commission, Lokayukta, many ministers and MLAs. Eight months have passed and I will stop only when the culprits are punished,” he said.
