School did not have permission to operate: P Sujatha

Orders being issued to inspect functioning of all non-governmental organisations

Hyderabad: Women and child welfare minister P. Sujatha on Tuesday said the Greenfield Blind School did not have any government permission to operate. She also said orders are being issued to the district administration to inspect the functioning of all non-governmental organisations in East Godavari district.

She said that Greenfield school correspondent, K.V. Rao, who is a government employee, has been placed under suspension. Ms Sujatha said, being a government employee, Mr K.V. Rao cannot be legally running a blind school under the umbrella of an NGO.

Moreover, the school did not have the requisite government approvals. Criminal cases will also be booked against Mr K.V. Rao and school principal Srinivasulu, she said and added the management of the blind school has been taken over by the district collector for the time being.

Meanwhile, the NHRC has slapped notices on the AP chief secretary and the district collector of EG to submit a report on the incident within four weeks.
