Umag, Croatia (SportsNetwork.com) - Seeds Lukas Rosol, Andreas Seppi and Carlos Berlocq were a trio of first-round winners Tuesday at the Croatia Open tennis event.

The fifth-seeded Czech Rosol snuck past Argentine Diego Sebastian Schwartzman 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), while the sixth-seeded Italian Seppi held off qualifier compatriot Marco Cecchinato 6-2, 6-7 (2-7), 6-1 and the eighth-seeded Argentine Berlocq handled Slovakian qualifier Andrej Martin 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 on the red clay at ITC Stella Maris.

Meanwhile, Spaniard Albert Montanes grounded German Alexander Zverev 6-4, 6-4, Russian Teymuraz Gabashvili drubbed Serb Dusan Lajovic 6-4, 6-3 and Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas continued his recent fine play by tackling Croat Mate Delic 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. The qualifier Cuevas was a runner-up after reaching his first-ever ATP final last week in Bastad, Sweden.

Additional Day 2 wins came for Spaniards Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Pere Riba, Dutchman Igor Sijsling and Argentine qualifier Horacio Zeballos.

Spaniard Tommy Robredo beat Italian Fabio Fognini in last year's finale in Umag, where Fognini and Robredo, respectively, are this week's top seeds. Fognini will open his stay against Montanes on Thursday, while Robredo will take on his countryman Ramos-Vinolas in the round of 16 on Wednesday.

The 2014 Croatia Open titlist will collect $105,000.
