Is Dhollywood warming up to item numbers?
Item songs are pure entertainment, and Gujarati filmmakers seem to be taking note of it. And few of the filmmakers are also taking lead in this trend by including item songs in their films.
Item songs have been a major part of Bollywood film promotions for some time now, but with new filmmakers in Gujarati film industry trying to woo the young audience, Dhollywood also seems to be warming up to item songs.

City Girl 009, which is still being shot, is a women centric film for which Bhoomi Trivedi recently recorded a song which the music composers say is on the lines of an item number. Similarly, the film Aa Toh Prem Chhe featured a peppy song Mauj as one of the highlights of the music album and the film. And Aishwarya Majmudar recorded a song for Vishwaasghat titled GJ 2, which she said was like an item number by sheer fun and catchy tone of the song.
With films now getting more contemporary, the filmmakers are also doing all they can to attract youngsters and urban audience.
