ALLAHABAD: The elected representatives held a meeting with the chief secretary at the Circuit House in the city on Monday. They raised issues pertaining to their area and urged to solve the problems of the people.
Participating in the meeting, MLA from city (north) Anugrah Narayan Singh raised the issue of broadening of the railway under bridges (RUBs) at various points of the city to solve the problem of frequent traffic jam.
There are three RUBs in Allahpur, one in Behrana and one at Teliarganj. He urged for expediting work of construction of railway flyover at MNNIT crossing at Teliarganj and one flyover at Allahpur.
Singh urged for making a policy for conversion of government estate land into freehold land. Poor people living on nazul, defence and railway land should not be displaced. If the displacement is necessary, arrangements should be made for rehabilitation of these people before carrying out the work of displacement.
Mayor Abhilasha Gupta raised various issues relating to city. She informed that private agency responsible for collection of garbage of city is not performing well and demanded returning of work of garbage collection back to Allahabad Municipal Corporation. Corporator Shiv Sewak Singh welcomed chief secretary Alok Ranjan on behalf of corporators. He informed that people of Allahpur has to grapple with problem of waterlogging. Arrangements should be made for enhancing the capacity of Buxi Bund pumping station, he said.
The long pending drainage system project should be urgently sanctioned for solving the drainage woes. Work of damaged Ring Bundh should be expedited. Scarcity of water in the area of Shanakargarh was also raised.
