NHRC team starts probe

KANPUR: A four-member team of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) visited GSVM Medical College on Monday and started its investigation. The team led by IPS officer Sanjay Jain inspected the place where the brawl between the medical students and SP MLA Irfan Solanki.
The team recorded the statements of the medical students who had been lodged in the jail and Prof RP Sharma who is the senior faculty member of GSVM Medical College.The statement of GSVM College principal, Dr Navneet Kumar, was recorded. The team collected evidences and continued recording the statements of 20 students who had received injuries in the police lathicharge on February 28.
The statement of the minor brother of one of the medical students was recorded by the NHRC team. The team will visit the student hostels on Tuesday.
