Swaziland : NAMBOARD pumps E1.5m into sunflower oil manufacturing industry to boost it up [TendersInfo (India)](TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The National Agricultural Marketing Board (NAMBoard) has made more than E1.5 million investments into the sunflower oil production sector to give a new lease of life to the industry. The Chief Executive Officer of NAMBoard - Siphephiso Dlamini has revealed that the establishment of Swaziland Oil Milling Industries (SOMI) has been intended for the production of edible oil by the use of sunflower oil and cotton seed. The NAMBoard boss has further stated that the levy has been endorsed to expand the sector as well as to support the local market and it crafted a sector to provide SOMI. Dlamini has added that their comprehensive study, which is in the initial phase, has established that local farmers are able to generate 7, 000 tonnes of product, provided that they use land of 200 hectares. As part of the second phase, the NAMBoard is having talks with farmers and preparing them for the rainy season or the cultivation spell in August for people with irrigation facility, according to the CEO. He has further said that they have already procured 1 000 tonnes of seed intended for selling the same to the farmers. In a bid to support the farmers, fertilizer distribution plan is also on the cards, added Dlamini. Dlamini has revealed that the NAMBoard is making huge efforts to boost the sector to facilitate Swazis to produce income. He has also stated that they hope around 100 farmers will be involved and the first investment might be increased to E2 million on the basis of the farmers feedback. Moreover, Dlamini has disclosed that they know that a private investor possesses SOMI and added that the government previously permitted a company to set up in the country, leading to benefits for Swazis too.
