Gurgaon police bust sex racket, Uzbek woman among nine arrested

Police said for several weeks, they had been receiving tipoffs about the racket on Sohna Road.

Gurgaon police have busted what they claimed was a flesh trade racket and arrested nine persons, including a girl from Uzbekistan, from outside a mall on Sohna Road on Sunday night.

“The accused were carrying out the trade for the past five years across NCR and soliciting customers through phone calls and social networking sites like WhatsApp and WeChat. In a bid to attract customers, they used to send SMSes, claiming that they ran Spa and massage centres. The customers were charged more than Rs 10,000,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Gurgaon, Vivek Sharma said.

Police said for several weeks, they had been receiving tipoffs about the racket on Sohna Road. “On Sunday night, we received a tipoff that some people were going to assemble outside the mall. A police officer struck a conversation with some of the accused as a decoy customer. Then, he alerted us. A team from the Crime Branch and Sadar police station jointly raided the place and nabbed five men and four women from two cars,” Sharma said.

The kingpin of the racket lived in Malviya Nagar. According to police, the main accused sent photos of girls to customers through WhatsApp and, after a customer picked a girl, she would be taken in a car and dropped at a location decided by the customer. Many hotels are under the scanner as police probe the racket.

During investigation, police said they found that the girl from Uzbekistan came to India on a tourist visa. But she failed to produce proper documents. “We have informed the Uzbekistan embassy about it,” Sharma said.

Festive offer

Some of the accused were identified as Agasteen alias Vikki, Chandan (a resident of Faridabad), Naresh alias Sonu (from Agra) and Shashikant (from Bihar). All the accused have been booked under sections of the Immoral Trafficking Act and the girl from Uzbekistan has been booked under sections of the Passport Act also.
