Pendyala Harikrishna shared the second spot after the sixth round of the Biel Grandmaster chess tournament in Switzerland. With four rounds remaining in this six-player, double round-robin affair, the Indian had three points, the same as Radoslaw Wojtaszek of Poland and Hou Yifan of China. Top seed Maxime Vachier-Legrave of France was leading the event with four points. He was held to a draw in the sixth round by Harikrishna, seeded fourth.
India’s B. Adhiban was in the sole lead of the Biel Masters tournament, with 5.5 points after seven rounds. His compatriot Surya Shekhar Ganguly had 3.5 points.
