The city police on Monday arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of a pickpocket, Mohd. Basheer (24) which was reported at Chilkalaguda three days ago. The police seized a knife and an auto-rickshaw from them.

The arrested persons -- Shaik Amer (21), Md. Salman Khan (21) and Shaik Afzal Shareef (31) -- all residents of Chilkalguda, allegedly killed Basheer as he was harassing them, the police said.

The trio hatched a plan and invited Basheer for a party at a municipal complex in Chilkalguda. They offered him liquor and took him along with them on pretext of having biryani at a hotel.

“Later, Amer, Salman and Afzal took the victim to an isolated place near Sanjeevaiah Park and stabbed him to death, while he was seated in the vehicle. After ensuring that he was dead, they drove to Padmaraonagar and dumped the body there,” DCP (North), R. Jaya Lakshmi said.
