GM Tells Used Car Dealers To Stop Selling 2003-13 Cadillac CTS, 2004-06 Cadillac SRX

On June 30, General Motors added 8.4 million vehicles to its still-growing list of recalls. Among the affected models were more than 616,000 units of the 2003-14 Cadillac CTS and 2004-06 Cadillac SRX, which suffer from "unintended ignition key rotation". (That's the same sort of issue affecting millions of other GM models included in the "Switchgate" recall.)

GM has a number of fixes lined up for other recalled vehicles, including replacement of the entire ignition switch and an insert that minimizes the swing and pull of key rings on car keys while vehicles are in motion. Earlier Cadillac models can be fixed with such an insert, but keys for 2008 - 2013 models already have a small hole, yet GM has found that they remain susceptible to unintended rotation. GM spokesperson Alan Adler says that the automaker is looking for one solution that will repair all the Cadillacs on its recall list.
