Tata Zest gets thousands of requests for test drives before launch

Prior to official launch, Tata Motors is going full steam ahead with marketing and promotional activities for both the Zest compact sedan and Bolt, its upcoming hatchback. Both these models are set for launch thus breaking a 4 year record when no new car was launched from the Tata Motors’ stables. This failure to launch any new vehicle has not only cost Tata Motors its range of customers but has also had an impact on market share.

Market share of Tata Motors during the period 2013-14 fell considerably while sales of passenger vehicles were down by 38% to 1.38 lakh units but Tata Motors expects all this to change with these two upcoming launches.

Bookings of Tata Zest have commenced on a down payment of INR 21,000. The Zest is being offered for pre bookings on the company website via online payments while the company has also started sending out test drive offers to prospective buyers, it is now revealed that Tata has received interests from thousands of customers for test drives.

Apart from this, demo labs are being set up in malls to showcase the performance and drivability of new Revotron petrol engine. Tata Motors is also upgrading most of their showrooms in time for the launch of these new cars. New employees are getting hired as you read, and they are also getting trained for giving customers a new experience in buying Tata cars. Tata has also bought hundreds of HP tablets which will be used to showcase the features of their new cars, write job cards, customer information, customer complaints, etc.

The Zest sedan powered by 1.3 litre Quadrajet motor and 1.2 litre four-cylinder, turbo Revotron engine will see features such as projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights and LED tail lights. Zest will be launched in a price range of INR 6-8 lakhs while it will compete with the likes of best-sellers such as Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent.

Besides the launch of Zest and Bolt, Tata Motors has also confirmed that they are working on two new models to be launched in as many years. For this year, it is Zest, Bolt, Nano AMT, and Safari Storme facelift.
