He had taken on Bolly bigwigs and even fought a lone battle. But Rishi Chanda never lost hope. The composer, who had complained that the popular Caller tune song from Humshakals was a copy of his Soniye tu from Dev-starrer Khokababu, is excited about his latest Tolly venture even though a Bolly break continues to elude him.
In fact, Rishi says a meeting was due with Vashu and Himesh Reshammiya, composer of Callertune. “But Himesh did not turn up for it,” says Rishi, who had mailed the makers pointing out the similarities between the two tracks. The production house behind Khokababu has also come on board now.

“Maybe, they were excited about the media reports and obviously, stood by me. They also slapped a legal notice against the producers of Humshakals. Let’s see what happens next,” says Rishi.
Talking about Sada Canvas, for which he has rearranged two Tagore songs, Rishi says, “While in Paras Pathar, we had started work on a Rabindrasangeet album, but that didn’t materialize as the band broke up.” Rishi also shares a special connect with the film’s director, Subrata Sen. “My first work in films was when I strummed the guitar as a sessions musician under Debajyoti Mishra in Subratada’s EkJe Achhe Kanya. I still remember the experience,” he says.
