After fighting for and against the enactment of a law for the management of gurdwaras in Haryana, the ad-hoc Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (HSGPC) and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) leaders are now at loggerheads to take possession of the 72 gurdwaras in Haryana.

Sources said hundreds of Akali Dal leaders and SGPC task force volunteers entered Haryana gurdwaras to stop HSGPC members from taking possession. The tiff between the two groups may turn violent as none of them are ready to compromise.

The HSGPC sources said that their committee president Jagdish Singh Jhinda and others are making efforts to enter the gurdwaras but they are keen to pursue their case peacefully. "The state government issued notification of the HSGPC bill after it was passed in the Vidhan Sabha and the governor had given his assent. We want to take possession of the gurdwaras peacefully. We have asked the state government to help us. We do not want any kind of confrontation with anybody," Jagdish Singh Jhinda said.

Meanwhile the Akali Dal on Sunday asked the Union government to impose president rule in Haryana by suspending the Haryana governor, Jagannath Pahadia. Terming the HSGPC bill as unconstitutional, senior Akali Dal leader and Lok Sabha MP Prem Singh Chandumajra said Haryana government is involved in the biggest conspiracy against the Sikhs.

"The Union government should suspend the Haryana governor who gave his assent to the HSGPC Bill 2014 which is illegal and unconstitutional. Haryana government is creating confusion between the Sikhs to fulfill their vested interests," Prem Singh Chandumajra said.

Chandumajra said that true Sikhs can never ignore Akal Takht's directions. He said that the Haryana Sikhs will never let the conspiracies hatched by the Congress government successful. "The Sikhs will oppose such moves tooth and nail. Akali Dal and SGPC would hold a gathering of Sikhs in protest against HSGPC. The gathering will also chalk out future course of action against formation of HSGPC," Chandumajra said.
