BJP warns of stepping up protests
NASHIK: City unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has warned of another stiff agitation in the coming days if the police fail to curtail the rising crime in Nashik. The party had staged an agitation at Raviwar Karanja on Saturday in protest against the recent burglaries that took place in the area.
City president of BJP Laxman Savji said, "We would gherao all the police stations in the city if things don't improve in near future.
The law and order situation is worsening by the day. There are robberies and house break-ins taking place in the heart of the city in broad daylight. City police have completely failed in controlling crime."
The BJP city president claimed that there was wave of fear among the people due to the rising incidents of crime. "Police patrolling, bandobasts and nakabandis don't seem helping much. There seems to be no co-ordination between senior officials and the constabulary. Neither do the senior police officials have control on constables, nor the state home minister has any control on the police force," said Savji.
The police have still not found the culprits behind the burglaries of six shops in the Ravivar Karanja area that took place recently. The police have got footage from the CCTVs installed there, but they still have not been able to trace the robbers, the BJP president added.
