Elections to the posts of chairperson and vice-chairperson of Prakasam Zilla Parishad saw the TDP and YSRC going all out to wrest the key posts.  TDP which was short of a majority by four seats was able to woo three YSRC ZPTCs to its side. The party’s prospects further brightened when one YSRC ZPTC was arrested on the polling day. Making the best of the situation, TDP rebel Edara Haribabu won the chairman’s post.

Rain plays spoilsport

Rain played spoilsport for BJP which held a meeting at in Kurnool recently. The meeting was attended by BJP State president K. Haribabu and leaders D. Purandeswari, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and the like. Even before the meeting could start, strong gales pulled down the tents. The meeting somehow started but not before district BJP president G. S. Nagaraju asking people to clutch the remaining poles and prevent their uprooting. By the time the rain stopped, most of them had left despite repeated pleas of the organisers to stay back.
