Celeb superlatives: Weird Al's back, McCarthy's new show

Al Yankovic attends Showtime 2013 EMMY Eve Soiree at the Sunset Tower Hotel on September 21, 2013 in West Hollywood, California.

We dig through the latest celebrity news, giving thumbs-up or eye rolls to those who earned them. Think high school yearbook superlatives — if Ariana Grande and Weird Al were classmates.

Best use of Christopher Walken: NBC's live Peter Pan

The Oscar winner is used to playing sadists. But Walken as Captain Hook, the one-handed pirate villain who sings, tap-dances and swordfights? It's the perfect role for the actor, who got his start in musical theater. It almost doesn't matter who actually plays Peter Pan.

Funniest singer ever (still): 'Weird Al' Yankovic

This week, satirist Yankovic released a music video every day to go along with the release of his 14th album, Mandatory Fun. We realized we've missed Al since his last studio album in 2011. His new spoofs take on today's mega-hits, including Pharrell's Happy (Al's version is Tacky) and Iggy Azalea's Fancy (Al's is Handy), and they're hilarious; it's no wonder he's outlasted most of the stars he's parodied.

Most prolific talk-show jumper: Jenny McCarthy

First, she hosted The Jenny McCarthy Show on VH1 in the spring of 2013. Then, she left to join The View in July of the same year. Now, just a year later, she's exiting that show and moving on to a new weekly SiriusXM series: Dirty, Sexy, Funny With Jenny McCarthy. "I've taken a new job which allows me to do what I do best, which is talk without having to interrupt anyone," she said in a news release. And it's only for a limited run — wonder what her next move will be?

Most sincere Facebook post: Ariana Grande

After Nickelodeon canceled Sam & Cat, star Ariana Grande, who played Cat, took to social media to thank creator Dan Schneider and the cable network "for allowing me to play such a special, beautiful character," she wrote. "I will always hold Cat near and dear to my heart and appreciate her help in my personal growth from teenager to adult." Usually, actresses just tweet sad-face emoticons when their shows are canceled!

Most likely to move for a reason that doesn't quite make sense: Lindsay Lohan

Lohan, who makes her West End debut this fall, is so over Hollywood. "I think I am making the move to come over here (to London). I've noticed here, watching the news, you guys have such a different outlook," she told the BBC. "In the U.S., starting at 5 p.m. it's TMZ, it's all these shows talking about people's personal lives, and here, I don't notice any of that." Should we tell her about George Clooney's issues with the Daily Mail and the News of the World phone-hacking scandal?

Woman you least want to scorn: Zoe Saldana

Not only has she played brave princess Neytiri in Avatar, clever officer Uhura in Star Trek and powerful assassin Gamora in the new Guardians of the Galaxy, but Saldana is also tough in real life. "You cross me as a lady, it's over … I have been in relationships where a man has disrespected me, and I don't need to be friends with that man anymore," she told Marie Claire. "There's a reason why you're called an ex. I crossed you off my list. Moving on."
