IGNOU launches dual degree programmes

IGNOU in collaboration with the Institute of Charted Accountants of India (ICAI) has launched dual degree programmes exclusively for the candidates doing chartered accountancy course.

Students doing CA the Foundation Level, Intermediate Level or First Level can join IGNOU’s B. Com.(accountancy and finance) course. After completing minimum prescribed courses and getting credits from IGNOU the students will get automatic credit transfer for the courses they completed from ICAI and they can complete the programme within minimum period.

Regional Director of IGNOU here S. Raja Rao said that the programme was tailor made for the candidates preparing for the profession like CA. They will get 64 credits exemption for the courses they do from ICAI as part of their CA and have to do minimum courses of 32 credits from IGNOU. CPT qualified candidates can apply for this programme.

After successful completion of all credits of IGNOU and CA programme, students will be awarded B. Com (accountancy and finance) degree by IGNOU. This programme will facilitate CA candidates to get university B.Com degree after passing CA.

The prospectus, costing Rs. 750 is available at IGNOU Regional Centre at Ushodaya Junction, MVP Colony, here and at IGNOU Study Centres located at Dr. L. Bullayya College, Visakhapatnam; Ideal College, Kakinada and Government College (autonomous), Rajahmundry. All IGNOU Study Centres are open on Sunday. Those interested can visit the Study Centres or the Regional Centre for prospectus and academic guidance. Admissions are open till July 31 with a late fee of Rs. 300.
