Ratna Pathak Shah to play the same role her mother played in Khoobsurat

Do you remember the 1980 cult romantic comedy of Hrishikesh Mukherjee, 'Khubsoorat' in which Dina Pathak played Rakesh Roshan’s mother? Her whole household resented her strictness, but still obeyed her just to be on her good side.

Three decades later, Shashanka Ghosh is adapting the film in his own modern way. But what is uncanny is that we learnt that Dina Pathak’s elder daughter Ratna Pathak Shah is playing the role she had played in the original.While it took Rekha to soften Dina then, in its modern avatar, the beautiful Sonam Kapoor will bring Ratna around.

Whether Shashanka cast Ratna for her being Dina’s daughter or for the fact that she is a great actress herself, it seems to be a great choice.
