The second edition of Raahgiri Day saw a bigger turnout and a host of new activities to bring Delhiiites out and embrace the streets. Apart from the music and dancing, the TOI-backed initiative, in partnership with the Delhi Police, the NDMC and Embarq India, saw many skating groups from across Delhi taking part in the event. Children from various schools across Delhi-NCR were excited to skate in CP.
Zahir from the Noida Roller Skating Academy, told us, “Usually, on Saturdays and Sundays, we skate in Noida Sector 44, but today it was nice to come here and get a different feel. Seeing CP like this is a huge surprise.” Another skating instructor, Rohtash Dinodia from the Delhi Skating Association, said, “The kids are quite excited to come here. They are getting to skate in Connaught Place on a Sunday morning. It couldn’t have got any better.”
Not only the skaters, but the cycling groups too were quite excited to be a part of the Raahgiri Day. The PedalYatri Group, which is a regular at Gurgaon’s Raahgiri, decided to come to the capital this time and even clicked a selfie with Meenakshi Lekhi, MP from the New Delhi constituency. Kushal Arora from the group told us, “It’s great that Raahgiri has come to Delhi. Right now, the energy in Gurgaon is higher, but we hope to up the tempo here as well, which is why we cycled almost 35km from Gurgaon.”
