Aravind scalps seven for Krishnagiri

R. Aravind returned figures of seven for 42 as host Krishnagiri dismissed Tirupur for 90 on the opening day of the two-day TNCA under-16 inter-district (pre-quarterfinals) cricket tournament for the P.R. Thevar Trophy here on Sunday.

In reply, the host made 137 in 50 overs, a first innings lead of 47 runs. At stumps, Tirupur was 42 for two in 11 overs in its second essay.

At Tiruvarur, R. Sukhin Saravan took six for eight as Kancheepuram bundled out the host for 54. At stumps, Kancheepuram was 195 for seven in 51 overs.

At Nagapattinam, R. Aravind scalped six as the host dismissed Tiruchi for 175. Nagapattinam was 19 for one in 14 overs, at stumps.

At Nilgiris, Sankruth Sriram struck 111 as the host scored 253 in 68 overs against Erode. Lakshman Barani took six wickets for the visitor. At close of play, Erode was 19 for no loss in seven overs.

At Salem, Rikesh Kumar Sharma slammed 119 as Salem scored 232 in 77.4 overs against Coimbatore. At stumps, Coimbatore was 46 for one in 13 overs.

At Dindigul, G. Sriram’s century helped Tirunelveli reach 245 in their first innings against Dindigul. Dindigul was 25 for no loss in reply at the end of day one.

In another match at the Syed Ammal Engineering College grounds, Ramanathapuram, Thiagarajan’s spell of four for six helped Tiruvallur bowl Ramanathapuram out for 99 in its first innings. Tiruvallur was 169 for one at stumps.

The scores (pre-quarterfinals, first day): At Hosur: Tirupur 90 in 27.4 overs (R. Aravind seven for 42) & 42 for two in 11 overs (T. Sathya Krishna 26) vs. Krishnagiri 137 in 50 overs (Mohamed Safiqueddin 43, V. Mithunchander 38, Joy Guptha three for 17, T. Sathya Krishna three for 34).

At Karur: Karur 113 in 59.5 overs (K. Meganathan 30, J. Naveen five for 23, A. Abraham David four for 33) vs. Vellore 85 for three in 40 overs (Ashrey S. Harigan 33 batting, E. Yazharunmozhi 32 batting).

At Nagapattinam: Tiruchi 175 in 81.1 overs (S. Akil Suriya 42, A. Chavinth Nadeish 32, M. Vishal 30, R. Aravind six for 34) vs. Nagapattinam 19 for one in 14 overs.

At Nilgiris: Nilgiris 253 in 68 overs (Nitish Kumar 58, Sankruth Sriram 111, Lakshman Barani six for 70) vs. Erode 19 for no loss in seven overs.

At Salem: Salem 232 in 77.4 overs (S. Rishes 31, Rikesh Kumar Sharma 119, Jash Kankaria three for 66) vs. Coimbatore 46 for one in 13 overs (A. Jerish 32 batting).

At Tiruvarur: Tiruvarur 54 in 44.2 overs (R. Sukhin Saravan six for eight) vs. Kancheepuram 195 for seven in 51 overs (S. Arun 55, U. Mukilesh 44 batting, S. Balaji 26).

At Dindugul: Tirunelveli 245 in 79 overs (G. Sriram 101, V. Harishankar 54, K. Gladson 31, K. Aashiq four for 56) vs Dindigul 25 for no loss in 15 overs.

At Ramanathapuram: Ramanathapuram 99 in 42 overs (Thiagarajan four for six) vs Tiruvallur 169 for one in 46 overs (Ashwin 60 n.o., Akshay Kumar 45, Prasanth Prabhu 26 n.o.).
