Mentally challenged woman raped near Mysore

MYSORE: A 23-year-old mentally challenged woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour in rural Mysore on Friday.
Nanjangud police said that the woman was attacked at her house in Thayur village when her mother, a daily wage worker, was away on Friday evening. The crime came to light after the woman's mother returned home. The police have arrested Madu, 25, the accused, from the same village.
Madu, a father of a child, lives at a house diagonally opposite to the woman's house. He entered her house after studying her mother's movements.
After the woman lost her father, her mother started working in fields to make ends meet.
