Just before closing at Park Meadows Mall on Friday night, three robbers lugging sledgehammers smashed several display cases in the Ben Bridge Jewelers store, swiped several Rolex watches, then fled in a stolen sport utility vehicle, police say.

The robbers, described as black men in their early to mid-20s, sprinted through the mall around 8:45 p.m. and exited through Dick’s Sporting Goods, according to Kristen Knoll, a Lone Tree police spokeswoman.

Witnesses reported the suspects fleeing in a silver Jeep Liberty with Colorado license plate 793-OUD.

The SUV was reported stolen a few minutes after the robbery. The robbers were dressed in dark clothing, Knoll said.

Lone Tree police detectives responded to a report of a robbery at 8:45 p.m., the news release said.

“Police are currently reviewing security footage of the theft to gather additional information,” Knoll said.
