Popular actor Kadhal Dhandapani passed away at a private hospital in Chennai on Sunday morning due to cardiac arrest. He was 71.
"RIP #KadhalDhandapani, the popular character actor passed away 2day morning due 2 cardiac arrest," entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai tweeted.
The Tamil actor became popular after playing the antagonist role in the 2004-hit film "Kadhal", from which his prefix is credited. His menacing look and the performance as a baddie was one of the major highlights of the film. Since then, he has starred in several films in all south film industries including Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Some of his popular films include Sathyaraj's "Englishkaran", Myskin's "Chithiram Pesuthadi", Jayam Ravi's "Unakkum Enakkum", Vijay's "Velayudham", Raghava Lawrence's "Muni", Arya's "Vattaram and Sivakarthikeyan's "Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam." His upcoming films are Suriya's "Anjaan" and Bharath's "Ainthaam Thalaimurai Siddha Vaithiya Sigamani."
The actor was lastly shooting for Sarathkumar's "Sandamarutham."
Sarathkumar took to Twitter and expressed his condolences on the death of the actor. "My deepest condolences to friend and colleague who worked with me yesterday Kadal Dhandapani has left this world to the heavenly abode RIP," Sarathkumar tweeted.
Some of Kadhal Dhandapani's fans have also expressed grief over the actor's death on social media sites.
His body is at Chennai's Vijaya Hospitals and will be moved to his native Dindigul for the last rites, reported Behindwoods.
