It’s polling day in Junagadh

Polling for the Junagadh Municipal Corporation election is taking place today. The result of the election will be out on 22 July deciding fate of 156 candidate contesting in 20 wards.
This is the first major election after Anandiben Patel became Chief Minister and Narendrabhai Modi shifted his base to Delhi.
Next will be the by-polls for 9 assembly seats(Maninagar, Deesa, Limkheda, Matar, Mangrol, Jamkhambhalia, Talaja, Tankara and Anand) and 1 Lok Sabha seat(Vadodara) within next four months.
The state will then witness the biggest election season after Lok Sabha general elections in last three months of 2015.
Panchayat elections for all districts(barring Kheda and Banaskantha) and 209 Talukas will be held along with the elections of 53 Municipalities and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation in October 2015.
Elections for Jamnagar, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Vadodara, Surat and Jamnagar Municipal Corporations will be held in December 2015.
All these elections are to be held as per the census 2011. The state election commission has therefore asked district election officers to start procedure of new delimitation.
