Anusha Swamy has earned many admirers because of her Youtube videos. However, boys are hesitant to approach her because of her “Why Me” video, which is about ‘Sexual Abuse of Women’. “In the video I had mentioned that I would slap if any guy tried to misbehave or even stare at me. So, I think they’re too scared,” says this Mandaveli resident.

Anusha is an alumna of MOP Vaishnav College and is now working as a choreographer in the Indian film industry. She has worked with Prabhu Deva, Lawrence, Raju Sundaram, Brinda and others as an assistant for movies like Kochadaiyan, R Rajkumar and Maryaan. She says she has been dancing from the age of six. But, making Youtube videos were never a part of her plan. “I had a power cut at home and that’s when I made my first video out of boredom. It was a cover of the song “cups" and I mixed it with a Tamil song and released it. Around 2,500 people saw it in just two days. It made me realise the reach of this medium and made me think why not use it for a cause. I decided to add a message and create awareness through all my videos. That’s when I shaved my head as two people very dear to me were affected with cancer. My first video was in support of cancer patients. Cancer is no fun and I had to make a video which delivers a serious message in a quirky way,” says Anusha, for whom people are her inspiration.

The themes for her videos come by just observing and listening to people around her. “My father complains about a lot of things about what’s happening in the society. Not just him, but I observe what other people have to say; if anything interests me I put it in my videos,” she says.

She has released 10 videos so far and touched various topics under her Youtube Channel - Papa Super. She owes the name to her mother. “My mother calls me papa even though I’m 22 now. And, for everything I do – good or bad – her reaction is ‘super.’’ I combined the two to get my channel’s name,” she says.

Her favourite Youtube personalities are MirindaSings and Superwoman. “They make me happy. Apart from that, a music producer Kurt Hugo Schneider and a violinist Lindsey Stirling are my other favourites.”

One of her future plans is to do ‘The Epic Show Part 2. “It is basically bringing together kids with autism, down syndrome and other disabilities to put up a show in November. Also, I will be releasing a music video in August,” says Anusha.
