Man pushes girl into well after rape
JAIPUR: The Bhilwara police carried out raids at several places in search of a man who pushed a 15-year-old girl into a well after raping her on Thursday. The girl had spent a night in the well and survived for 15 hours before she was rescued by the villagers on Friday. Police said that the accused disappeared from his house after the girl was rescued and she lodged an FIR with the police.
According to the police, the incident took place in Kotari area when the girl was on her way to her agriculture farm on Thursday. One Heera Lal Gujjar (20) took her to an isolated area and thrashed her.
"Gujjar, who works as a cook in a nearby village, raped her. The girl threatened to tell her parents about this. He then decided to kill her," said a police officer.
The officer said that Gujjar took her to a nearby well and threw her into it. "The water level in the well was not high, so the girl didn't drown. There was a water pipe and a stair to climb down into the well. The girl sat on it throughout Thursday night and kept crying for help. However, as no one was around, she could not be rescued," said the officer.
The girl spent nearly 15 hours in the well. "The owner of the land came on Friday morning and heard the cries from the well. He knew the girl. With help of other villagers and her family members he rescued the girl," said the officer.
On the girl's complaint, the police lodged an FIR against Gujjar under 376 of IPC and various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He has also been booked for attempting to murder her.
"A team raided her house and some other possible hideouts on Saturday morning, but he is on the run," said the officer. The police got a medical examination conducted on the girl. Her statement has also been recorded.
