According to hospital staff, Salvi broke mirrors in the washroom and made a second attempt to end his life by slitting his throat with the shattered glass. At 11 pm, he ran towards the emergency exit staircase on the hospital’s second floor and jumped off. “Despite all our efforts, he could not be saved. He was moving about so violently that nobody could even inject a sedative. The entire episode (suicide attempts) took place in 25 minutes,” Kulkarni said.

According to a hospital source, family members have claimed that Salvi had no past record of aggression and was not battling any serious ailment. The Azad Maidan police registered a case of accidental death. On Saturday, Salvi’s family took his body to Badlapur for final rites.
