DU councils agree to restructure FYUP courses

Five new courses under the university’s Cluster Innovation Centre (CIC) were also approved.

DU’s Academic Council and Executive Council met on Saturday to consider recommendations of the Committee of Courses for restructuring the four-year course and finalise courses for the new session.

“Around 60 courses were restructured from the four-year to the three-year format,” Rajesh Jha, an AC member, said.

The resolution to change the nomenclature of two courses offered by the Department of Commerce — Masters in International Business and Masters in Human Resource and Organisational Development to MBA was also passed. Masters in Finance Control has been renamed as MBA in Finance Management, council members said.

Five new courses under the university’s Cluster Innovation Centre (CIC) were also approved. A resolution to convert BTech in Humanities to a three-year course was also passed. Another proposal to rename BTech/BS in Innovation and IT, to BTech in Information Technology and Mathematical Innovation was approved. However, the latter would remain a four-year course.

“Main papers and allied papers will have presentation and project-based assessment. There will be no tutorials for allied papers. There will also be no change in the exam pattern or internal assessment for the papers,” Abha Dev Habib, an EC member, said.
